You don't see natural gray Wensleydale wool combed top very often! It is rare! This wool is nice and soft and feels softer than the average 33-35 micron count that Wensleydale wool has.
Only very small quantities of this gray Wensleydale wool is produced per year. This has taken 3 years of collecting from small farms to get enough quantity together to produce a commercial quantity of top.
Wensleydale is a British sheep breed and grows a very long, loosely curly crimpy wool locks. I was surprised that the staple length on this wool wasn't longer, but this length is nice to spin and blend with other fibers, and the color and hand of the wool is really nice, so there is no need for it to have a longer staple length.
Wensleydale wool is usually prized for it's extremely long curly locks that are great for felting, dyeing and spinning.
